President
Justin Oliver grew up in Fayetteville, NC with his mother and sister. After high school, he attended North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, NC where he received his degree in Electrical Engineering and was the first in his family to attend and graduate from college. Upon graduation, he was faced with a dilemma. Should he enter Corporate America and make his family proud or seek out other options?!
Interview with the President
As the president of GT Global Promotions, it is my sole duty to make sure that each member of the team is taken care of. I am dedicated to this office, to Lafayette, and to every goal-oriented, self-motivated person that walks thru our doors. I am here to help each individual reach their maximum potential thru our management training program. GT Global is only as successful as the next great entrepreneur that walks thru the door, so each person is hand picked by myself to ensure the top 10% is welcome aboard.
What, if any, discouragements did you get from your family or friends when they first learned about the career you had decided to pursue?
When my family first learned about the career path I had chosen, they were very skeptical. I had recently graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering and decided to enter a completely different field, start at the bottom, and work my way up. I had turned down graduate school, which was fully paid for, in order to pursue another dream of being my own boss. My family was scared, frustrated, confused, and worried. They felt the same way any normal family would feel about their child doing something outside of the normal “comfort zone.” I made a decision at an early age not to limit myself and this was the perfect opportunity for me to expand my horizons.
What advice do you give to newcomers in the marketplace/sales industry?
“Don’t underestimate yourself.” A lot of times, people give up before they even begin. People are scared of trying new things or working hard to achieve a goal. The largest obstacle that you are going to face in this type of industry is believing in yourself. I had no previous experience and was entering the unknown, but with a great student mentality, I was able to overcome all obstacles, and now my name is on the front of one of many offices to come. You will face many mental and emotional challenges each day, but at the end of the day, you have to remember not to learn from each and every experience.
How do you handle discouragement?
I keep a positive outlook on everything. I live my life that everything happens for a reason, and I can either let it defeat me and give up, or figure out why it happened to me and grow from it. A person is faced with discouragement everyday. It can be from a loved one, a friend, significant other or spouse, or even your parents, but you can’t let it stop you. Discouragement is defined as the expression of opposition and disapproval. Not everyone in life is going to give their approval for each decision that you make, but if it hasn’t stopped you in the past, why let it stop you now. The path you chose in life should be chosen by you, not your family or friends, because it’s the path you will have to live with for the rest of your life.
What are your goals for the future?
My goals are to continue to grow by giving others the opportunity I was given. I genuinely find satisfaction from helping inspired persons reach their potential and I feel that if everyone vowed to help the next man out, our world would be in a much better place.
Are there any words of wisdom that you would like to offer candidates to help them achieve the success that you’ve achieved?
Never stop believing in yourself. There will always be those that will doubt you and sometimes when you look up you are the only one looking at things positively. The belief in yourself is usually all you need.
